THE 4Cs
Diamonds have been recognized with its unique universal language called 4CS.
CUT / CLARITY / CARAT / COLOUR

CUT
Cut plays a very crucial role in determining Diamonds brilliance. Cut refers to the proportions, polish & symmetry of a Diamond. While all the other 3CS are largely defined by nature, Cut is the one that can be defined by human. A rough diamond can be cut into various different shapes.
CLARITY
Clarity of diamonds is an evaluation of how clean a diamond is from both inclusions & blemishes. Depending on the size, location and depth of these flaws, a diamond is graded on the clarity scale ranging from Flawless / FL to Inclusions / I. These imperfections in diamonds can interface with the light passing through the diamond, thus affecting its sparkle.

CARAT
Carat refers to the size of the diamond in terms of its weight. The word Carat is derived from the carob seeds which were used earlier as reference to balance scales. A one Carat diamond equals to 200 milligrams or 0.200 grams.
COLOUR
Colour of a Diamond is graded in terms of how white or colourless a diamond is. Each diamond has different shades ranging from brilliant white to pale yellow. Accordingly these differences are graded on a colour scale from D ( colourless ) to Z ( Brown / yellow tint ).

Fancy coloured diamonds in hues of pink, blue, orange, green, red for example are considered to be rare than the traditional white diamonds and are graded based on their intensity and beauty of their colours.
